Islanders Land Three Preseason All-Conference Selections, Two on First-Team

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – With the season just two weeks away, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program earned three Preseason All-Conference honorees, announced by the Southland Conference on Wednesday.
 
Senior midfielder Abby Deakin and senior goalkeeper Kyleigh Hall were named to the First-Team, while sophomore defender Alana Mangan was tabbed to the Second-Team.
 
"Well-deserved selections and I believe they will have an even better season this spring," said head coach Craig Shaw.
 
Deakin, from Broomfield, Colorado, led the Islanders with nine goals and four assists last year, both of which were single-season program records. She recorded 36 shots with 23 on goal, and logged 1,560 minutes. Deakin was honored on the 2019 All-Conference First-Team.
 
Hall, a native of Mansfield, Texas, is the reigning SLC Goalkeeper of the Year winner and was also named to the All-Conference First-Team. She set the single-season school record in minutes played (1,772), wins (9), shutouts (8) and goals against average (1.17).
 
Mangan, a product of Bedford, Texas, started all 19 matches in 2019 and was named to the SLC All-Conference Second-Team. She was a part of a unit that set the single-season program record with eight shut outs.
 
The 2021 SLC Preseason Poll will be announced Thursday.
 
The Islanders will open the 2021 campaign at home against UTRGV on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.
