CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball returns to Dugan Wellness Center searching for a Southland win as they host New Orleans in a midweek contest on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.
Alecia Westbrook's 13 boards at Lamar solidified a new career high and complemented her team-high 12 points as the sophomore collected her sixth double double of the season. The total ranks 19
th nationally and leads the Southland, while her marks in rebounds (114) and rebounds per game (9.5) continue to top league standings.
As a team, A&M-Corpus Christi sits second amongst the conference in blocked shots (50) and steals (136). The Islanders' 136 steals garner a top-10 national ranking and is paced by freshman
Paige Allen's 34 swipes.
Makinna Serrata continued her double-figure scoring streak at Lamar, chipping in 10 points, including a pair of triples that helped fuel a big third-quarter comeback, to reach the mark for the second-straight game and third overall this season.
A&M-Corpus Christi used a 22-point third-quarter performance to erase a double-digit deficit and stage a late-game comeback at Lamar. The Islanders were down by as many as 12 before a pair of runs sparked a final period surge that saw four lead changes before the Cardinals pulled away. Â
Westbrook leads A&M-Corpus Christi on both sides of the ball, averaging 13.1 ppg and 9.5 rpg.
The Islanders' five-game skid is the longest streak since the 2016-17 season.

- The Islanders rank eighth in the nation in total steals (136) and 18th in steals per game (11.3). Individually, freshman Paige Allen moved up the national leaderboard, ranking 11th in steals (34) and 19th in steals per game (3.09).

The sophomore standout ranks 19th nationally in double doubles and leads the league in the same category, while also topping the Southland in several other statistical columns including rebounds (114) and rebounds per game (9.5).
