Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team came back from three runs down to defeat Southeastern Louisiana, 5-4 in the first game of a three game series Friday afternoon at Chapman Field.
- A&M-Corpus Christi opens SLC play with a 1-0 record, while the Lions fall to 0-1.
- The Islanders went into extra innings in the second game of the day between the two squads. The game was suspended due to darkness and will be concluded Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in the top of the 10th inning with the score tied at 5-5.

Game One Key Statistics and Sequences
- The Lady Lions jumped out in front in the top of the 1st inning courtesy of an RBI single, taking a 1-0 lead over the Blue and Green.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame.
Tiare Lee led off with a single into center field followed by a stolen base. A strikeout and an error from the SLU catcher put Lee at third.

Sydney Hoyt then stepped to the plate and drew a walk to put runners at the corners with just one out. A passed ball by the catcher allowed Lee to score from third and Hoyt to move up to second base.

Haley Morse then sent a triple off the right field wall to score Hoyt, giving the Islanders a 2-1 lead over SLU.
- The next three innings remained a scoreless pitcher's duel before the Lions took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 5th and added another run in the top of the 7th.
- Trailing by two entering the bottom of the 7th inning, the Islanders rallied for three runs to claim their first win Southland Conference play.

Daisy Gonzalez was hit by a pitch followed by a single to left field from pinch hitter
Sammi Thomas to put two on with one out.
- The Islanders scored all three of their runs in the next at-bat.
Ashleigh Sgambelluri doubled to right field to bring Gonzalez around to score, and both Thomas and Sgambelluri reached home after an error by the SLU defense, taking home the 5-4 comeback victory.
- Lee, Hoyt, Morse, Gonzalez, Thomas and Sgambelluri all picked up a hit a piece, while both Morse and Sgambelluri each picked up an RBI.

Kandace Johnson got the start in the circle for the Blue and Green, throwing 5.1 innings and giving up three earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts.
- Hoyt earned her first collegiate win on the Island, pitching the final 1.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit with a strikeout.
