Myles Smith scores 25 in win over Sam Houston State

- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi men's basketball team defeated Sam Houston State, 74-60, on Wednesday night to stay alive for a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament.
- The Islanders improved to 13-17 overall and 9-10 in Southland play with the win. The Bearkats fall to 18-12 overall and 11-8 in conference action.
- Myles Smith scored a 25 points, knocking down five three pointers. He added four rebounds, three steals and two assists as he reached double figures for the 20th time this season.
- The game was played on the Corpus Christi Athletic Club Court at the American Bank Center.

- As a team, the Islanders shot 45.8 percent from the field (27-of-59), and connected on 11-of-26 (42.3 percent) attempts from beyond the arc.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi also held a 39-33 advantage in rebounds and forced 13 SHSU turnovers.

- Elijah Schmidt grabbed seven rebounds, scored four points, had one assist and recorded a blocked shot.
- Jalen White scored four points and hit both of his free throws.
- Irshaad Hunte scored four points, grabbed two rebounds, had one assists and recorded one steal.
- Perry Francois scored two points with two rebounds.
- For Myles Smith, it was his fifth game this season with 20+ points and the eighth in his career.
