Islanders fall in tournament finale to Rutgers

Story Headlines
-  The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team fell to Rutgers University, 5-1 in its final game of the 2020 USF tournament Sunday morning in Tampa, Fla.
- The Islanders record now stands at 5-13. 

Key Statistics and Sequences
- Rutgers took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning, courtesty of a two RBI double, an error and an RBI single.
- The Blue and Green got on the board in the next half inning. Tiler Noyola led off with a single, advanced to second after a ground out and made her way over to third after a wild pitch. Alexandria Torres then singled to bring Noyola home, picking up her fifth hit and third RBI of the weekend. 
- The Scarlet Knights scored their fifth and final run of the day in the bottom of the 4th on a sacrifice fly to center field. 
- Along with Torres and Noyola, Kennedy Jimenez collected her first hit of the tournament in the top of the 2nd inning. 
- Freshman Sydney Hoyt made her third career start this season, throwing for 1.2 innings and giving up two earned runs on four hits and two walks. She also struck out two batters. 
- Jenika Lombrana came in relief for the next 2.2 innings and Alexis Tovar finished the game, throwing the final 1.2 innings for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
