Baseball earns 5-2 win over Kansas State Saturday

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi baseball team earned its first win of the 2020 season, defeating Kansas State 5-2 in a night game at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas.
- The game was part of the 2020 Kleberg Bank College Classic.
- Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the third, the Blue and Green scored four runs in the inning as well as a run in the bottom of fifth to complete the comeback.

Offensive Statistics
- The Islanders were led on offense by Scott Hastings, who collected three hits in four at bats and two RBI. 
- Tristan Welch gave A&M-Corpus Christi the lead on a two RBI double. 
- Luke Marbach, Mike Williams, Welch, Justin Taylor and Troy Black all recorded a run. 
- Marbach, Steven Rivera-Chijin, Taylor and Black all collected a walk.
- Overall, the offense drove in five runs on five hits and forced four walks.

Pitching Notables
- Hayden Thomas got the start on the bump, tossing five complete innings on 96 pitches. He allowed two earned runs on two hits with three walks. He also recorded a game high five strikeouts. 
- Daniel Nelson came in relief for the final four innings, giving up only two hits against 15 batters faced. He joined Thomas with five strikeouts.
