Islanders complete regular season sweep of Wildcats Saturday afternoon

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's basketball team completed the regular season sweep over Abilene Christian, defeating the Wildcats, 68-59 Saturday afternoon at the American Bank Center. 
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi improves to 17-7 and 11-3 in the Southland, while ACU falls to 18-5 and 10-4 in conference action. 
- Today's win completes the first regular season sweep for the Islanders over the Wildcats in program history. 
- A&M-Corpus Christi held the league's top scoring offense to under 60 points for the second consecutive meeting. 
- Today' game included six lead changes and three ties. 
- The starting five for the Blue and Green featured; Alexes Bryant, Dae Dae Evans, Emma Young (Coleman-O'Bryan), Dalesia Booth and Alecia Westbrook. 62 of the 68 points in today's game came courtesy of the starting five. 

Key Islander Statistics and Sequences
- Trailing 33-31 at the end of the first half, the Islanders outscored the Wildcats, 17-13 and 20-13 in the third and fourth quarters to come away with the nine point victory. 
- Four of the starting five in tonight's game reached double figures, led by Bryant who scored 16 in only 20 minutes of action, followed by Westbrook with 14, Booth with 13 and Coleman-O'Bryan 11. The trio of Bryant, Booth and Coleman-O'Bryan also scored double digits against ACU in Abilene earlier this season. 
- Bryant shot a near perfect seven-of-eight from the field and two-of-two from the charity stripe. 
- Reaching double figures in three consecutive games, Westbrook grabbed a team leading six rebounds to along with three steals and a block. 
- In addition to her 13 points, Booth added five rebounds, three assists and a steal. Coleman-O'Bryan matched Westbrook with six rebounds and a team leading five assists in 34 minutes of action. She also knocked down the Islanders' lone three point basket. 
- Evans stuffed the stat sheet for A&M-Corpus Christi with eight points, three steals, three assists and three rebounds in 32 minutes. 
- Texas A&M-University asserted its presence down low, winning the battle of the boards with 31 rebounds compared to the Wildcats' 24. The Islanders scored 46 points in the paint. 
- As a team, the Islanders shot 53.7-percent from the field and held Abilene Christian to 44-percent. 
- The defense forced 18 Wildcat turnovers on eight steals, which resulted in 20 points off of those turnovers
A&M-Corpus Christi also shot nine-of-11 from the free throw line, good for 81.8-percent. 

Islander Notables
- Evans now sits in sole possession of No. 3 all-time in program history for career steals with 171. Booth moves up to No. 5 all-time with 146. 
- Coleman-O'Bryan is now two three point baskets away from taking over the No. 9 spot in program history for three points baskets made in a career. Her three offensive rebounds today also give her an even 200 in her four year's with the program, good to take over the No. 10 spot all-time. 
- A&M-Corpus Christi is now 9-1 on their home floor this season and are 6-0 when scoring between 60-69 points. 
- The top defensive scoring team in the Southland continues to roll as they have held 12 of their opponents to under 60 points this season. They are now 11-1 in those games.
