Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team split its opening two games of the Houston tournament, defeating Alabama Birmingham, 2-1 in eight innings before falling to Louisiana Monroe 6-4 on Friday afternoon.
- The Islanders move to 1-5 overall on the year. The game one win over the Dragons also marks the first victory for Islanders' head coach Kristen Zaleski.

Game One vs. Alabama Birmingham
- The opening game of the tournament remained a scoreless tie until the top of the 4th inning, when the Dragons struck first with an RBI double down the left field line to take a 1-0 lead.
- A&M-Corpus Christi entered the bottom of the 7th still trailing 1-0. After an inning opening strikeout, freshman Alyssa Miller singled back out the pitcher and advanced to second base on a throwing error. A ground out at the next at bat would move Miller over to third base with two outs.
- After a walk to put runners and first and third, freshman Alexandria Torres stepped into the box and hit a single back up the middle to bring Miller home from third, tying the game at 1-1.
- The Blue and Green sealed their first win of the season in extra innings as Daisy Gonzalez started the bottom of the 8th with a single to center field. Gonzalez advanced on the same play after a fielding error from the outfielder to put her in scoring position.
- Freshman Haley Morse followed with a sacrifice bunt to move Gonzalez over to third base. Tiare Lee put the finishing touches on the Islanders' first victory of the season with the game winning RBI single down the left field line.
- Sophomore Jenika Lombrana pitched a complete game for A&M-Corpus Christi, giving up only four hits, one earned run while striking out six batters. It marks the first complete game of Lombrana's career with the Blue and Green.
- Miller and Sydney Hoyt led the offense with two hits apiece, while Gonzalez also collected an RBI.
- Torres, Gonzalez, Kennedy Jimenez and Lee all collected a hit which include Lee's game winning RBI in the bottom of the 8th.

Game Two vs. Louisiana Monroe
- The Warhawks jumped out with two runs in both the first and second innings to take a 4-0 lead over the Islanders. ULM added two more in the top of the 4th inning, taking a 6-0 lead.
- The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi offense came alive in the bottom of the 5th inning with three runs, courtesy of a RBI double from Skye Koehl, an RBI from Miller and a sacrifice fly from Tiler Noyola
- Hoyt recorded her 2nd home run of the season on a solo shot to center field in the bottom of the 7th. The Dragons held off the Islanders' late inning magic to come away with a narrow 6-4 victory.
- Hoyt got the start in the circle for the Blue and Green, pitching two complete innings with one strikeout. Senior Kandace Johnson came in relief for the final four innings, allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
- Noyola, Hoyt, Gonzalez, Avery Ratcliff, Alexandria Torres and Koehl all collected a hit, while both Miller and Torres also picked up a stolen base.
