CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Islander Holiday Invitational will feature a pair of games between the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program and Paul Quinn over two days at the Dugan Wellness Center.
The Islanders (2-6) and the Tigers (0-0) will tip it off Tuesday at 2 p.m. and will do it again Wednesday at 5 p.m.
A&M-Corpus Christi is coming off a 99-72 victory over Our Lady of the Lake. Senior
Myles Smith tied the program record for assists in a game with 12. Sophomore
Jalen White registered a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, and senior
Perry Francois tallied career-highs of 22 points and nine rebounds.
Francois, who was tabbed an Honorable Mention for SLC Player of the Week, leads the conference and ranks 26th in the nation in field goal percentage with a .646 mark. He's coming off a 10-for-12 outing against OLLU. Francois is the team's leading scorer with 11.5 points per game and also ranks fourth in the SLC in blocks with 1.4 per outing.
Senior
Nolan Bertain is a perfect 21-for-21 from the free throw line, which ranks second in the country. Only Marreon Jackson from Toledo has more makes (36-36) with a 1.000 percentage.
White is the team's leading rebounder with 6.5 per game and is also second on the squad in scoring with 9.5 per outing.
Tuesday will mark the season-opener for Paul Quinn. The Tigers had previous games scheduled, but were canceled due to COVID-19.
Paul Quinn competes at the NAIA level in the Red River Athletic Conference. Senior Spencer McElway returns as the team's leader after averaging a double-double of 14.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game last season.

- It will be the first-ever meetings between the two programs.
- A&M-Corpus Christi is 200-95 all-time at home.
- The Islanders rank second in the conference in three-point percentage defense, holding teams to a .287 clip from long-range.
- Bertain is 9-of-13 (.692) from beyond-the-arc over the last three games, where he's averaging 15.0 points. At No. 17 Texas Tech, Bertain tallied 12 points and was 3-for-4 from long-range.
- White has two double-doubles this year. In addition to his performance against OLLU, he opened the season with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in a win over Texas A&M-International.
- Head coach
Willis Wilson has won 140 games overall since arriving at The Island University and is the program's career leader in coaching victories. He surpassed Ronnie Arrow for the most victories at A&M-Corpus Christi who had 134 from 1999-07.
