FRISCO, Texas – With just one day between games, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program will travel for a game against 17th-ranked Texas Tech at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Comerica Center.
The game will not be played in Lubbock at Texas Tech's home gym.
The Islanders (1-4) will be going for their first-ever win against a ranked opponent.
Senior
Perry Francois is coming off back-to-back career-high performances. He registered 16 points and seven rebounds Thursday in a defeat to UTRGV. Francois leads the team with 11.0 points per game and a .595 field goal percentage, which ranks second in the conference. Francois is also top-five in the SLC in blocks with 1.0 per game.
Junior
Rasheed Browne has made an immediate impact with the Islanders. He's averaging 10.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Browne scored 20 points in the season-opening victory over Texas A&M-International.
Sophomore
Jalen White has stepped up this year and averages 8.6 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game. He opened the year with career-highs of 14 points and 14 rebounds against the Dust Devils.
Texas Tech (5-1) will take on its fourth Southland Conference opponent this season. The Red Raiders have already defeated Northwestern State 101-58, Sam Houston State 84-52 and Abilene Christian 51-44. The team's only loss this year was a 64-53 decision against Houston on Nov. 29.
The Raider Raiders have three student-athletes averaging in double-figures including Mac McClung (15.7 ppg), Kyler Edwards (11.7 ppg) and Terren Shannon Jr. (11.2 ppg). Defensively, Texas Tech limits teams to just 50.7 points per game with a season-most of 64 points allowed.

NOTES
- Saturday will be the sixth meeting all-time between A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas Tech. The Islanders are going for their second win in the series and the first since an 86-80 victory in 2000-01.
- The Islanders are seeking their first win over a Power Five institution since 2009-10 when they beat Oregon State 67-43.
- A&M-Corpus Christi has not played a ranked opponent since falling to No. 19 St. Mary's 67-46 in 2016-17.
- The Islanders lead the Southland Conference in free throw percentage with a .748 mark. Individually, Browne shoots at a .864 (19-22) clip. The Islanders are also second in the league in scoring defense (69.8 ppg) and second in blocks (3.8 bpg).
- Head coach
Willis Wilson has won 139 games overall since arriving at The Island University and is the program's career leader in coaching victories. He surpassed Ronnie Arrow for the most victories at A&M-Corpus Christi who had 134 from 1999-07.
