CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –
In the midst of a five-game homestand, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball program will host St. Edward's University at 7 p.m. Friday and Concordia (Texas) at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Dugan Wellness Center.

The game against St. Edward's is a rescheduled game from Dec. 5 that was postponed due to COVID-19 testing protocols.

The Islanders (0-5) will look to bounce back from a pair of similar games against UTRGV. In both contests, A&M-Corpus Christi led by eight points after three quarters when the Vaqueros were able to make runs down the stretch.

The games were part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. The Islanders lead the annual, 12-sport showdown 3-1.

Sophomore Alecia Westbrook is coming off her second double-double of the season with career-highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Westbrook leads the SLC in rebounding with 9.0 per game. She also ranks second in the SLC in blocks (1.8 bpg), third in FG% (.591) and top-five in scoring (15.6 ppg). Westbrook has scored in double-figures in all five games this year.

Freshman Paige Allen ranks first in the conference in steals with 4.0 per game. She's second on the team in both scoring (10.0 ppg) and rebounding (4.6 rpg).

As a team, the Islanders rank second in the league in blocks with 3.75 per game.  They've also outscored all five of their opponents in second chance points.

It will be the season opener for both St. Edward's (0-0) and Concordia (0-0). The Hilltoppers are a Division II institution in the Lone Star Conference, while the Tornados compete at the NCAA Division III level and in the American Southwest Conference.

Both games can be watched live for free on the Islanders Digital Network with Doug Kesterson on the calls.
