LAST SEASON VS SAM HOUSTON STATE
- The Islanders came up on the short end of both meetings last season against Sam Houston State, falling on Jan. 16, 2019, in Huntsville, 72-50, and in Corpus Christi on Feb. 13, 2019, 70-69.
- In the first meeting, Tre Gray scored 13 points and Elijah Schmidt grabbed nine rebounds in the effort. Kareem South added eight points and eight rebounds.
- In the second meeting, Jashawn Talton-Thomas scored a then career-high 18 points with eight rebounds.
- Emannuel Toney had 12 points with four assists and two rebounds.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi tied the game at 69-69 with 31 seconds remaining as Talton-Thomas converted an and-one and knocked down the free throw.
- But the Bearkats' Kai Mitchell drew a foul with three seconds remaining and hit the go ahead free throw. He would miss the second but there was not enough time remaining for the Islanders to get off a shot.
- In both games last year, Talton-Thomas averaged 11.5 points and 4.5 rebounds while knocking down 50 percent of his three-point attempts (4-of-8).

THREE IN A ROW
- The Islanders are riding a three-game win streak heading into Wednesday's game.
- Myles Smith is averaging 11.7 points, 6.0 assists and 5.3 rebounds during the win streak.
- During that stretch, Jordan Hairston is averaging 15.0 points and Talton-Thomas is at 12.0.
- Tony Lewis leads the way on the boards at 5.7 and is averaging 8.0 points per contest.

REBOUNDS WITH ELI
- Senior Elijah Schmidt enters this Wednesday's game with 490 career rebounds.
- Should he reach double figures on the boards, he would become just the seventh Islander to ever reach the 500 plateau.
- Schmidt also ranks seventh in career defensive rebounds with 329 and he is ninth in offensive rebounds with 161.
- With 54 career swats, Schmidt is just three blocked shots away from breaking into the career top-10.

THE WIN LIST
- Head coach Willis Wilson has won 133 games since arriving on the Island and is on pace to become the program's all-time win leader this season.
- Wilson needs just one more win to tie Ronnie Arrow at 134 victories.
- Arrow was the first head coach in program history, coaching from 1999-07.
