Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi track and field team opened the 2020 indoor season at the Texas A&M Ted Nelson Invitational at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas, on Friday.
- The Islanders won two races and set three school records on the afternoon and the returners set nine personal bests.
- In the team standings, the men took sixth with 38 points and the women were ninth with 36 points.

Women's Highlights

Valentina Campos won the mile in her first race of the season. She ran 5:03.64, nearly four seconds faster than the nearest competitor.
- Campos also competed on and won the distance medley relay with
Quin Johnson,
Aeriel Garcia and
Cambria Clark, finishing in 12:25.52.

Sierra Pruitt finished ninth in the 60m dash, running 7.78.

Larissa Manciaz ran 56.58 in the 400 meter dash, placing third. Her time was a personal best, nearly two seconds faster than her previous record.
- Johnson took fourth in the mile in 5:15.69 and Clark finsihed in seventh in 5:18.59.

Alana Blankenship finished seventh in the 3,000m run, finishing in 10:50.19.
- In the high jump,
Erika Snyder finished eighth with a clearance of 1.63m (5-4.25 ft.).

Maryam Möllers advanced to the finals in the triple jump and placed ninth with a jump of 11.58m (38-0 ft.).
Men's Highlights

R'Darious Edwards set a personal and school record in the long jump, finishing seventh with a leap of 6.99m (22-11.25 ft.).

Preston Whaley broke the school record in the triple jump with a mark of 14.67m (48-1.75 ft.). He finished sixth overall.
- In the weight throw,
Aaron Rosales broke his own school record with a throw of 14.67m (46-11.75 ft.), placing 12th in the field.
- In his first race as an Islander,
Timor Barrett ran 8.31 in the prelims of the 60m hurdles to qualify for the finals. He finished seventh in the finals.
- Later in the afternoon, Barrett finished third in the 400m dash, running 48.41.
- The mile saw two A&M-Corpus Christi runners place in the top-eight with
Isaac Vargas taking seventh in 4:21.32 and
Tristan Stellmach placing eighth in 4:22.39.
- In the distance medley relay, Vargas,
Bjoern Adden,
Brandon Hutto and Stellmach finished second in 10:31.54.

Zachary Seaman cleared 1.99m in the high jump (6-6.25 ft.) to take second overall.

Colton Cohea was one of four competitors to clear 4.91m in the pole vault (16-1.25). He would take third place on the count back.

Marek Spriestersbach placed eight in the 3,000m run, finishing in 8:53.53.
