Islanders fall to Lions; Lewis with back-to-back double doubles

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi men's basketball team fell to Southeastern Louisiana, 62-56, at the University Center in Hammond, La., on Wednesday evening.
- Tony Lewis picked up his second-straight double-double with 14 points and a career-high 12 rebound performance. It marked his third game this season in double-figures in scoring and his fourth in double-figure rebounding. The senior has two double-doubles this season and three for his career.

- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi outrebounded the Lions, 39-34, and had 12 assists to SLU's eight helpers.
- The Islanders blocked four shots and picked up six steals on the defensive end.
- A&M-Corpus Christ made all eight free throws on the evening. The Islanders were just 2-for-2 in the second half.
- The Lions shot just 3-for-16 from beyond the arc (18.8 percent) and were held to 21-of-57 from the field (36.8 percent).
- Jordan Hairston recorded his fifth career game in double-figures, leading the Islanders with 15 points. The freshman hit five three pointers, marking his fifth career game with multiple three point makes. Hairston also recorded his first career blocked shot in the first half.
- Myles Smith finished with nine points four rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes.
- Jashawn Talton-Thomas grabbed nine rebounds with three coming on the offensive end. He added six points and four assists.
- Peyton Smith scored three points with two rebounds, two steals and two assists in 32 minutes of action.
- Elijah Schmidt had six points, going 3-for-3 from the field. He added two rebounds on the night.
- Irshaad Hunte finished with three points and two rebounds. He nailed his second career three-pointer in the first half. His other Islander long range make came back on Nov. 12, 2018, against UTRGV.
- Perry Francois grabbed three rebounds, two coming on the offensive glass.
- For Lewis, he becomes the first Islander to record back-to-back double-doubles since Rashawn Thomas on Jan. 25 and Jan. 28 during the 2016-17 season.
