Burts posts three-run walk-off homer, seals win over PVAMU

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi baseball program scored its fourth-consecutive walk-off victory in Tuesday evening's matchup against Prairie View A&M, as junior Itchy Burts notched a three-run homer in the final frame for the 8-5 win.
- After the Islanders managed to secure a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth, the Panthers knotted the score with a solo bomb to open the ninth. With runners at the corners and one out deep in the bottom of the inning, Burts jacked the first home run of his career over the right-field fence, effectively ending the game in the Islanders' favor. 
- On the season, Texas A&M-Corpus Christ improves to 20-11 (8-4 Southland) overall while the Prairie View A&M falls to 9-21 (5-7 SWAC).

Key Islander Statistics
- The Islanders scored eight runs on nine hits with one error. Both teams carried a scoreless game into the seventh, where A&M-Corpus Christi drew first blood behind a pair of runs. The Blue & Green followed up with three more runs in the eighth before Burts notched his homer in the final frame.
-Prairie View A&M took their first lead of the game in the top of the eighth off four runs before posting a solo homer in the ninth. The Panthers finished with five runs on eight hits and committed no errors.
- Both Burts and Trevor Beard drove in three runs each on a combined four hits.
- Mike Williams grabbed the other two RBIs on the night on one hit.
- Enrique Sanchez Jr. picked up one single and two runs scored, extending his hit streak to 12 games. The senior also notched two walks.
- Fellow senior Nick Anderson posted two hits with two runs scored as well.
- Luke Marbach also crossed home plate twice, getting on base via a walk and a hit-by-pitch.
- Dylan Duarte received the fourth start of his career, working through 7.1 innings. The senior allowed three runs on five hits with a team-high six strikeouts.
- Hayden Thomas and Cody LeCompte combined for 1.1 frames late in the game, surrendering two runs on three hits.
- David Worrell (2-0) earned the win across just .1 innings, notching zeros across the board in his short appearance -- no hits, no runs and no walks.

Key Islanders Innings
- Anderson opened the seventh with a single into center field, and moved on to second when Marbach absorbed a hit-by-pitch. The pair each moved up a base off a sacrifice bunt from Williams, setting up runners at second and third with just one out. Beard took advantage on the next at-bat, driving a double to the right-center gap to score the first two runs of the game. 

- Down by a two-run margin, A&M-Corpus Christi went to work in the bottom of the eighth. Sanchez Jr. reached on a leadoff walk and helped set up a bases loaded situation following an Anderson single and a Marbach walk. Williams proceeded to tie the game with a two-RBI single up the middle before Beard once again gave the Islanders a lead off an RBI single down the right-field line.

- Andriud Martinez kicked off the final frame with a leadoff single into left field and, after a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch, the Islanders boasted a runner on third just one out deep. Following an intentional walk of Sanchez Jr., Burts lined his home run down the right-field line, sealing the eventual 8-5 victory.
