Men's basketball heads to McNeese State

LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi men's basketball program heads to the McNeese State University for a 6:30 p.m. Southland game against the Cowboys at the H&HP Complex. Fans can also listen to the audio broadcast live on KEYS 1440 AM and follow live statistics.

HISTORY WITH MCNEESE (ISLANDERS LEAD 11-5)
- This will be the 17th meeting between the two schools.
- All time, the Islanders are 7-1 in Corpus Christi and 3-4 in Lake Charles.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has won the past eight meetings.
- The two teams have met once in the Southland Tournament on a neutral floor back in 2007.

LAST YEAR'S MEETING
- The Islanders beat the Cowboys, 82-70, last season on Feb. 28, 2018, at the American Bank Center.
- Joseph Kilgore scored a game-high 23 points with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
- Kareem South scored 18 points with five boards, three assists and a steal.
- Myles Smith scored 14 points with seven rebounds.
- Elijah Schmidt had 11 boards and six points.
- McNeese's Jarren Greenwood had 17 points with four assists, three rebounds and two steals.

DOWN THE STRETCH
- With two games remaining, the race for a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament is up for grabs.
- The Islanders are in a three-way tie for sixth at 7-9 with HBU and SFA. UCA and Northwestern State are tied for ninth at 6-10.

COWBOY (9-20, 5-11) NOTABLES
- McNeese State University lost on Saturday to Houston Baptist, 86-65.
- The Cowboys are 2-13 on the road but are an even 7-7 at home.
- McNeese's new home, the Health and Human Performance Education Complex, opened on Friday, Nov. 16, against Loyola University New Orleans.
- The $40 million complex seats 4,200 fans.
-  Roydell Brown leads the team at 14.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds.
- Brown has scored in double figures in six straight games and has gone over 20 points in five of those six contests.
- He has 12 double-doubles on the season.
- Sha'markus Kennedy is averaging 13.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He has also blocked a team-high 55 shots this season.
- Kennedy has blocked at least one shot in nine-straight games and has five multi-block games in the past six contests.
- He has also scored in double figures in each of the last eight games.
- James Harvey averages 12.6 points per game and has knocked down 76 three pointers this season at 36.2 percent.
- Harvey has hit a three pointer in all but one game this season.
- He has scored in double figures in four of the last five games. He has also knocked down 22 three pointers in the last five games.

ISLANDERS LAST TIME OUT
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi  beat Incarnate Word, 74-72, in overtime on Saturday as Jashawn Talton scored a career-high 32 points.
- Talton's 32 points came on 8-of-15 shooting. He hit 14-of-15 free throw attempts, grabbed six rebounds, had two steals and hit a pair of three pointers.
- The Islanders shot 46.9 percent from the field (23-for-46) and hit 7-of-15 three point attempts (46.7 percent).
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi went 21-for-27 from the free throw line (77.8 percent).
- The Islanders grabbed 10 offensive rebounds which led to 13 second chance points. The Cardinals were held to just four second-chance points.
- UIW held a 34-28 halftime lead but A&M-Corpus Christi held a 37-31 advantage in the second half and 9-7 in overtime.
- Jake Babic scored 15 points with three three-pointers. He was 6-of-8 from the field with five rebounds, one assist, one steal and no turnovers.
- Emmanuel Toney had a game-high seven assists with seven points and four rebounds. He had three steals defensively and hit his only three point attempt.
