Softball rallies late, splits Saturday in College Station

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi softball team split a pair of games on Saturday at Davis Diamond in College Station, Texas.
- The Islanders fell to Lamar, 4-1, but rebounded to beat Longwood in the evening session, 6-4.

Game One Islander Statistics
- The Cardinals scored four runs on 11 hits with one error and the Islanders had one run on three hits with one error.
- Ashley Smith pitched 6.2 innings. She struck out two while allowing four runs, three earned, with two walks.
- Kennedy Johnson led off the fifth with a single to center and advanced all the way to third on an error. Olivia Rivas drove Johnson in with a sacrifice fly to left to put the Islanders on the board.
- Ashley Moss went 1-for-3 in the first game.
- Sammi Thomas was 1-for-1 with a walk and was was also hit by a pitch.
- Keagan Helson and Alyson Silvas each reached on walks.

Game Two Islander Statistics
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored four times in the first. Alyson Silvas led off by reaching on an error. After a Sammi Thomas walk, Silvas scored on a single from Whitney Wendel. Ashleigh Sgambelluri singled to load the bases. After a fielder's choice by Emily Vela, a wild pitch allowed Wendel to score from third and Kennedy Johnson singled to short to drive in Sgambelluri and Vela.

- The Islanders took the lead in the sixth with a pair of runs. With one down, Moss reached on an error by the pitcher and stole second. After a Silvas walk, Thomas hit an RBI single to center to drive in Moss. Wendel reached on a fielder's choice but an error by the third baseman allowed Silvas to score to give A&M-Corpus Christi a 6-4 lead.
- Kandace Johnson threw a complete game 7.0 innings. She allowed four runs, three earned runs, on eight hits. She struck out three and walked three.
- Kennedy Johnson went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and a walk.
- Sammi Thomas went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.
- Silvas scored twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk.
- Wendel was 1-for-3 with a run scored. She was also hit by a pitch.
- Sgambelluri went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
- Vela was 1-for-4 with a run scored.
- Rivas went 1-for-1, Samantha Burke was 1-for-2 and Keagan Helson went 1-for-3 in the second game.
