CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team opens the 2019 season on Thursday with a pair of matches at the Dr. Jack Dugan Stadium on Momentum Campus. The Islanders will face Texas A&M-Kingsville at 9 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. match against San Jose State.
The Islanders are coming of a 12-11 season in 2018, going 1-0 at home. The 2019 slate includes eight home matches with four taking place at the Dr. Jack Dugan Stadium and four at the new Water's Edge Park near downtown Corpus Christi.
This year's team roster includes 20 student-athletes with four seniors, two juniors, six sophomores and eight freshmen. Head coach
Gayle Stammer is in her third season on the Island and assistant coach
Emily Hilliard begins her first at A&M-Corpus Christi.
Up next, the Islanders will host Louisiana Monroe on Monday, March 4, for a doubleheader at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
