FRISCO, Texas – Kristin Bobay of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team was selected as the 2026 Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year as the league released the All-Academic list Tuesday.
Bobay highlights the All-Academic team, and is accompanied by six other members of the Islanders beach volleyball team alongside
Madison Morrow,
Millie Olsson,
Mia Stevens,
Saskia Hernandez,
Bryce Ranney, and
Mille Maxwell-Berthou. All were automatic selections after being All-Conference First-Team honorees.
Bobay was part of the 2026 SLC Pair of the Year with partner Morrow, as the duo was additionally tabbed to the All-SLC First Team at Flight 1. She helped the Islanders to a regular season and tournament championship this season, through which she became the program's all-time winningest player. Off the sand, she hoists a 3.8 cumulative GPA in her kinesiology degree to win the ultimate academic honor.
Morrow earned a spot on the team with a 3.81 GPA in her Sports Management degree, Olsson with a 3.79 in her English degree, Ranney with a 3.82 GPA in the Biomedical Sciences program, and Stevens with a 3.9 in her Kinesiology degree. Both Hernandez and Maxwell-Berthou recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs in their Healthcare Administration and Business degrees, respectively.
As a team, the Islanders recorded a 3.56 GPA for the spring semester as all seven honorees were above the average.
