Smith sets career-high but Islanders fall to UCA

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi men's basketball team fell to the University of Central Arkansas, 71-67, on Saturday afternoon at the Farris Center in Conway, Ark.
- Myles Smith led the way with a career-high 31 points on 10-of-17 shooting. He knocked down a career-high six three-pointers and led the team with seven rebounds. He also added a steal on the defensive end.

Key Islander Statistics
- The Islanders shot 42.1 percent from the field (24-for-57) and hit 11 three-pointers.
- In the first half, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi shot 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field and led 40-29 at the break.
- Nolan Bertain hit three three-pointers, finishing with nine points, three rebounds and an assist in 25+ minutes.
- Jashawn Talton-Thomas had a career-high six assists. He has now led the team in assists six times this season. Talton-Thomas also added six rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot.
- Jordan Hairston scored six points with two steals.
- Peyton Smith knocked down a pair of second-half three pointers and finished with six points, two assists and one steal.
- Elijah Schmidt had five points with five rebounds and an assist. He was 3-for-4 at the free throw line.

- Perry Francois scored four points, going 2-for-2 from the field with three rebounds and a steal.

- Every Texas A&M-Corpus Christi player who saw the court grabbed at least one rebound ...  Myles Smith's previous career-high was 23 points in a win over UTRGV on Nov. 30, 2019 ... he has now scored in double figures nine times this season and 26 times in his career ... he has had 20 or more points four times this year and seven times in his A&M-Corpus Christi career ... the last Islander to score 20 points in a half was Kareem South who had 20 points against Incarnate Word back on Feb. 9, 2019 ... the last Islander to score 30 or more points was Talton-Thomas, on March 2, 2019, with 32 against UIW ... this was the fourth-straight game the starting five have been Hairston, Bertain. Myles Smith, Talton-Thomas and Lewis.
