Women's basketball falls to South Alabama in double overtime, 83-82

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's basketball team narrowly fell to South Alabama, 83-82, in double overtime on Thursday night in Mobile, Ala. 
- Tonight's contest marked the second round game of the 2019 Preseason WNIT for A&M-Corpus Christi. 
- Both Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and South Alabama move to 1-2 overall on the year. 
- Tonight's starting five for the Islanders included; La'Janeira Robinson, Makinna Serrata, Emma Young, Dalesia Booth and Tiara Matthews
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi trailed by as many as 10 points in the first quarter before taking a 31-29 lead into the locker room at halftime. 
- The game included five lead changes and nine different instances in which the game was tied. 
- A&M-Corpus Christi tied the game with 23 seconds or less remaining in the fourth quarter and each of the two overtime periods. 

Key Islander Statistics
- Bryant led the Islander offense with 26 points, setting a new career high. She also grabbed 12 rebounds, giving her a double-double. 
- Young had an outstanding game on the glass, as the Kentucky native collected 18 rebounds, just one away from tying the single season program record of 19 set back in 2010. She also recorded 14 points to join Bryant with a double-double. 
- The A&M-Corpus Christi offense featured balanced scoring as four different players made it into double figures, Bryant (26), Booth (16), Robinson (14) and Young (14). Each also saw 35 plus minutes of game action through the double overtime contest. 
- Robinson collected all three of the Islanders three points baskets, along with shooting 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. 
- Texas A&M University-Corpus Christ forced 21 Jaguars' turnovers which included 12 steals. Dae Dae Evans led all players with four steals. 
- As a team, the Islanders shot 23-of-30 from the free throw line, good for 76.6-percent. 
- The A&M-Corpus Christi bench had another solid outing, scoring 33 points compared to South Alabama's three.
