Women's Basketball closes early Southland road trip at Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas -- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's basketball program (7-5, 1-0 Southland) closes out a two-game Southland road trip with a matchup at Lamar (8-4, 1-0 Southland) on Saturday afternoon, tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Montagne Center in Beaumont, Texas. The Cardinals defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in both regular season contests last year, extending their win streak over the Islanders to five games (Lamar leads the series 15-9). In the late-season matchup in Beaumont, a trio of current Islanders -- Emma Young, Dalesia Booth and Dae Dae Evans -- each posted double-digit performances, combining for 41 of the team's 59 points in a tight 59-65 loss.

With the two-game Southland road trip concluded following Lamar, the Islanders return to Corpus Christi for their conference home opener against Northwestern State, battling the Lady Demons at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the Dugan Wellness Center.
