Islanders' comeback bid falls short against Abilene Christian, 72-68

- Despite facing a deficit as large as 20 points, the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's basketball program (10-8, 4-3 Southland) battled back Wednesday night against Abilene Christian (14-6, 7-2 Southland), eventually faltering by just four, 72-68, at the Dugan Wellness Center.
- Juniors Emma Young and Alexes Bryant put together solid performances in the loss, combining for 27 points, five steals and three assists. Fellow junior Dae Dae Evans also contributed a number of notable statistics, posting nine points, two assists and a career-high eight steals.

Key Islander Statistics
- After trailing by 14 at the half, the Islanders composed a near-reversal in the final two periods, shooting 42.9 percent (6-of-14) in the third and a staggering 66.7 percent (12-of-18) in the fourth. A free throw from Evans pulled the team within one (65-64) with just 1:09 remaining, but a key three-pointer from Dominique Golightly and a series of free throws helped the Wildcats secure the win
- For the game, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi closed out the competition shooting 42.6 percent (26-of-61) from the floor, 28.6 percent (4-of-14) at the three point line and 50.0 percent (12-of-24) at the charity stripe.
- From a career perspective, Young's three assists helped vault the junior into the all-time Top Ten list for the category, good for 178 overall and a tie for ninth with Kendra Smith (2000-02).
