Late-Match Heroics Pushes Soccer Past Prairie View A&M

Story Headlines
- Propelled by sophomore Addison Urbanus' late 82' goal, the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi soccer team (2-2-1) extended its unbeaten streak to three games, topping Prairie View A&M (1-5-0) by a 1-0 mark. The Islander offense came out in full force throughout match, setting a school record for total shots (33) as the group constantly pressured the Panther keeper while dominating time-of-possession.
- The match acted as the squad's final home stand before taking to the road, setting a 2-1-1 record during the four-game streak.
- The sophomore duo of Mariah Ramon and Abby Deakin topped the team mark for single-game total shots (5) while Deakin took control of the single-game high for shots-on-goal (4).
- Prairie View A&M keeper Quinn Josiah served as the lone line-of-defense for the Panthers, breaking an opponent record for single-game saves (16). Meanwhile, the Islanders' defense completely smothered any PVAMU attack, allowing just three shots and two shots-on-goal (both saved).

Key Islander Statistics
- Following Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's success with aggressive play against both Texas State (W, 1-0) and UT-Rio Grande Valley (T, 2-2), head coach Craig Shaw opted for a similar strategy against the Panthers. Statistically, this led to the Islanders owning every category outright, leading Prairie View A&M in shots (33-3), shots-on-goal (17-2) and corner kicks (9-1).
- Junior Madeleine Lozano continues to make her mark on the squad's offensive surge, notching her second assist on the year during Urbanus' goal (team best).
- The Islanders managed to effectively spread the ball around during offensive possessions as 14 different players recorded shots with 10 of them breaking two or more.
- For the second match in a row, sophomore keeper Kyleigh Hall grabbed just two saves.
