CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi head softball coach
Blake Miller has announced the addition of Alyson Silvas to the Islanders' 2019 roster.
Â
"Aly receives well behind the plate and does a good job throwing runners out," said Miller. "She is a good hitter with the ability to steal bases. We're excited to see a local Corpus Christi player make an impact on the Islander softball program."
Â
Silvas played four seasons at Richard King High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. She helped lead the Mustangs to three straight playoff appearances and holds the school record for batting average with a .602 mark. As a senior, she was named the team's MVP, capturing the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors from King HS. She is a four-time all-district performer and was named to the All-South Texas team twice.
Â
She will graduate in the top 11 percent of her graduating class and is a member of the Permanent Honor Roll. As a sophomore, she was the team's Defensive Player of the Year and earned an All-District Academic first team honor. Her sister, Celeste Silvas, is a senior softball student-athlete at Southwestern University.
