CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi sophomore right handed pitcher
Aaron Hernandez was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim with the No. 93 overall pick in the third round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday afternoon.
In 2018, Hernandez appeared and started 14 games. He struck out 102 batters in 83.0 innings, becoming just the seventh Islander to reach 100 strikeouts in a single season. The Corpus Christi native worked a complete game shutout over Utah Valley on March 3, striking out a season-high 15 batters. He had four double-digit strikeout performances on the season.

Hernandez becomes the 12th player in Islander history to be taken in the MLB draft. By being taken in the third round, he becomes the highest draft pick in program history. Hernandez also became the first Southland Conference player taken in this year's draft.
