Natchitoches, La.- Texas A&M Corpus Christi Softball complete their third SLC Series opener on March 23rd against Northwestern State at Natchitoches, La. Seeking to take the doubleheader from the Lady Demons, the Islanders trailed on both of the back-to-back games facing NSU, 2-7 and 3-9
GAME ONE
To start off the doubleheader for the day, the Blue and Green fell short to the Lady Demons, 5-1. After a homerun from
Whitney Wendel in the top of the 4th to tie the game, Northwestern State responded with 4 runs to extend the lead to 5-1. Junior,
Ashley Smith, started in the circle for the Islanders finishing the game with 4 strikeouts

GAME TWO
Northwestern State set the tempo early with a 3-run lead late in the first inning. The Blue and Green knocked on the sheet early in the third frame as
Avery Ratcliff scored an unearned run;
Whitney Wendel was brought in by a single to right field from
Kaylee Hoppens for an RBI;
Destiney Diaz fouled out by the short-stop, running in
Keagan Helson for an unearned run to tie the score 3-3. The Lady Demons were quick to respond, however, as a fielding error from the Islanders gave up an unearned run late in the third returning the lead for Northwestern 4-3. NSU extended the lead with five additional runs, holding TAMU-CC scoreless for the remainder of the 4 innings; final score being 9-3.
