CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Islanders are making history as they head into the first home match of the season against the Texas A&M – Kingsville Javelinas. The Islanders are coming off a 3-1 team win in the TAMUK Tournament. You'll be able to catch the matches on the Islanders Digital Network Powered by AEP Texas.
The Islanders are looking for revenge at the Jack Dugan Family Track and Soccer Stadium after falling 2-3 to the Texas A&M Kingsville Javelinas this past weekend. Blue and Green's first pairing in
Selina Marolf (Bern, Switzerland) and
Abigail DeVido (Ashburn, Virginia) took the first set 21-18, they fell 19-21 in the second set but won the third set 15-12.
Jenna Krenek (Houston, Texas) and
Naomi Overstreet (Oakland, California) took home a victory for the Islanders at the number five spot. They dominated the first set 21-14, fell 14-21 in the second set and took the victory 15-8 in the final set.
Madi Fitzsimmons (Murphy, Texas) and
Demi McInnis (Cypress, Texas) started off slow at the number three match falling 12-21 but came back to win the second set 21-19. They fell in the third set 9-15.
Rachel Young (Frisco, Texas) and
Madison Green (Dripping Springs, Texas), the Islanders number two pairing fell in two sets, 17-21, 15-21. Islanders number four pairing
Kayla Walker (Murrieta, California) and
Chloe Simon (Katy, Texas) fought hard in both sets falling 19-21, 18-21.
"We can't wait to play in front of our home crowd and hope everyone comes out for some fun in the sun," Coach Gayle Stammer said. "Kingsville has some depth and experience on their team, which is really fun to play against. We are currently 0-1 against TAMUK and we would like to even the score.
