CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas- Islanders Softball meet up at Cabaniss Field to kick off Saturday's doubleheader against Utah-State and Nebraska-Omaha. Slating off at 2 p.m., the Blue and Green went up against the Aggies for the first game of the day. As the Islanders kept their mindset on the offensive throughout all 7 innings, Utah State stayed defensively poise on the field winning the game 8-3. The second competition for Saturday's doubleheader was against Nebraska-Omaha's, taking their first pitch against the Islanders at 4 p.m. Resiliency drove the Islanders during this match-up as they defeated Omaha 6-3.
Game One:
With the Islanders offense starting off early with a bang, the Aggies were quick to respond and capable of runing off with the lead late in the third.
Keagan Helson played a perfect game on the plate today recording a 1.000 BA, slaming a solo homerun, and registering 3 total runs for the Blue and Green. Islanders started to pick up the offensive tempo early in the 7th inning once again, as
Kayla Sheridan,
Katrina Jackson, and
Keagan Helson earned three back-to-back runs from the help of Sheridan, Johnson, and Diaz. Utah State held off the Blue and Green from running the score up any further, closing out the final inning 8-5.

>> Sheridan's RBI single, advances Helson to second and scores Jackson. Islanders trail 3-8.
>> Johnson being walked by pitcher with bases loaded, scores in Helson with a single run.
>> Diaz gets an RBI toward 3B, advancing Dunn and Johnson to second and third while scoring Sheridan with a single run.
Game Two
Islanders keep the same offensive push toward their second game against Nebraska-Omaha as they defeated the Mavericks 6-3.
Avery Ratcliff performed exceptionally for the Blue and Green as she kept a career-high 1.00 BA and tallied down 2 run;
Katrina Jackson,
Ashley Smith,
Destiney Diaz, and
Keagan Helson brought in the remaining four runs for the Islanders. Tovar pitched the full game against the Mavericks recording 2 strike-outs, 6 fly-outs, and 12 ground-outs.
