Islanders split their doubleheader against Nebraska-Omaha and Belmont

Hammond, La. - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi split Sunday with a win against Nebraska-Omaha 2-1 and a loss against Belmont 4-1 to finish out the Lion Classic. 

Game One
Kaylon Dunn went 3-for-3 from the plate finishing the game with three of the Islanders five hits on the day. Ashley Smith and Kandace Johnson both took the mound, each throwing three strikeouts. 

KEY INNINGS
- Top of the First

>> The top of the line up loaded the bases to start off the game with Whitney Wendel scoring on a throwing error by the catcher
>> The Islanders finished the inning with one run, three hits, an error, and one left on base

- Bottom of the Second
>>Dobbs doubled to right field scoring Pablo to tie the game 1-1

- Top of the Fourth
>> Kaylon Dunn scored to take the lead after a double to right center


Game Two
The Blue and Green rotated through all three of their pitchers in game two of their doubleheader. Alexis Tovar earned the start, with Kandace Johnson and Ashley Smith coming in relief.
 
The Bruins outhit the Islanders 13-2 while neither team made any defensive errors. 

KEY INNINGS
- Top of the First

>>Avery Ratcliff singled down the right field line scoring Kayla Sheridan to go up 1-0

- Bottom of the First
>>The Bruins tied the score with an RBI from Rouse
>>Kandace Johnson came into pitch for Alexis Tovar

- Bottom of the Second
>>Belmont ended the inning with two runs, three hits, and a runner left on base taking the lead 3-1

- Bottom of the Third
>> Avery Smith took the mound for Kandace Johnson
>> The Bruins scored a single run on four hits with a trio of runners left on base
