- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's basketball program (7-5, 1-0 Southland) defeated Central Arkansas (5-6, 0-1 Southland) in the Islanders' Southland opener Monday afternoon at the Farris Center in Conway, Ark.
- Junior
Dalesia Booth led the team with 33 points, a career high, finishing 11-of-15 from the floor, 2-for-4 from beyond the arc and 75 percent from the free throw line (9-of-12).
- For Central Arkansas, the loss serves as just the sixth conference and eighth overall home defeat since the 2015-16 season (three-plus years).

- Behind a strong fourth quarter (71.4 percent, 10-of-14), the Islanders were able to hold off the late UCA push.
- For the game, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished shooting 41.0 percent (25-of-61) overall, 30.8 percent (4-of-13) at the three point line and 67.9 percent (19-of-28) at the charity stripe.
- Outside of Booth, two other Islanders notched double-digit performances on the day: fellow juniors
Alexes Bryant (14 points) and
Emma Young (11 points). Young also managed to lead the team in both assists (4) and steals (3).
- As a group, A&M-Corpus Christi forced 17 turnovers while surrendering just seven, converting 25 points off those changes in possession to UCA's eight. Meanwhile, Bryant and Young served as a major force inside the paint as the Islanders outscored UCA 32 to 18.
