Islanders fall in final non-conference game

- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi men's basketball team fell to Oklahoma State, 69-59, on Saturday at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla.
- The Islanders fall to 5-8 overall on the season while the Cowboys improved to 6-6.
- It was the final non-conference game for both teams.
- Kareem South led the team with 18 points on 6-of-16 shooting. He tied a career-high with four made three-pointers. South led the team in rebounds with six and assists with five.

- The Islanders forced 15 Cowboy turnovers and scored 15 points off the miscues.
- A&M-Corpus Christi recorded seven steals and had two blocked shots.
- Of the 21 made field goals, 15 came off assists.

Key Islander Sequence
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi got off to a strong start that gave the Islanders the lead for the majority of the opening half. After winning the tip, South found Talton on the right side and the junior Oklahoma native buried a three for the game's first points. After a defensive stop, Babic nailed a three from the left wing to make it a 6-0 A&M-Corpus Christi advantage. The Cowboys would respond with a free throw and a layup but Toney got open on the right wing and hit the team's third long range bucket off a feed from Babic to make it a 9-3 contest.

Islander Notables
- Saturday marked South's seventh game this year scoring in double figures and the 41st contest of his career. He also made his 71st consecutive start.
- South's five assists set a season-high, surpassing the four which he had back on Dec. 20 against UTSA.
- He tied a career-high with his second-straight four-steal performance.
- South has now led the team in scoring four times, rebounding five times and in assists four times this year.
- Schmidt reached double figures for the third time this year and the seventh time in his career.
- With his five rebounds, Schmidt has now recorded at least five boards in each of his last three games.
- Kyle Brown made the pregame half-court shot for the first time this season.
- This was the 10th all-time meeting between the two programs.
