Women's Basketball shifts focus to South Texas Showdown at UTRGV

EDINBURG, Texas -- Following a dominant 78-40 victory over St. Thomas to open the season last Tuesday, the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's basketball program immediately faces its first major test of the year, battling rival UT-Rio Grande Valley on Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the first edition of the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. While the Islanders own a commanding 22-11 series lead over the Vaqueros all-time (includes wins over Texas Pan-American & UT-Brownsville), head coach Royce Chadwick will be looking to even his 4-5 record against UTRGV with a victory Monday evening.
