Soccer Toughs Out 0-0 Tie at Abilene Christian

Story Headlines
- Despite battling a hostile crowd and an offensive-minded Abilene Christian squad, the Islanders' soccer program (5-3-3, 2-1-2 Southland) put together a strong effort Friday evening, notching a 0-0 overtime tie against the Wildcats (8-4-1, 3-2-1 Southland).
- Sophomore goalkeeper Kyleigh Hall rotated back between the pipes after sitting last Sunday at Nicholls State, compiling a brilliant performance in her return. The Wildcats consistently applied pressure on Hall's position, totaling 32 shots on the night; meanwhile, the sophomore grabbed 16 saves to keep the Islanders competitive, tying the program record for saves in a game (previously held solely by Audrey Baldwin, 3-0 at Lamar, 10/13/13).
- As a group, the Islanders have also now tied the school record for overtime matches in a season (4), a mark previously set by a 2016 squad. On the year, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi now stands at 1-0-3 in overtime, scoring the lone victory over Sam Houston State off an Addison Urbanus header.

Key Islander Statistics
- In a reversal of the Islanders' signature offensive pressure head coach Craig Shaw has preached since season kickoff, Abilene Christian dominated both possession and a majority of the offensive statistics. Ultimately, this resulted to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi trailing in nearly every notable category, as the Wildcats led in shots (32-10), shots on goal (16-5) and corner kicks (10-3).
- For the most part, the Islanders spread out their shooting statistics, as eight players compiled the 10 shots. Both senior Kaitlyn Joy and freshman Reaghan Lang led the group, totaling two apiece.
- Three Islanders competed for the entirety of the 110-minute match, including Hall and a pair of sophomore defenders -- Megan Dodd and Alexis Smith.

Up Next
- With the three-match road trip concluded, the Islanders return home for a Sunday afternoon make-up match against Incarnate Word, kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. Fans can find the 2018 promotional schedule HERE.
