CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -Â Texas A&M-Corpus Christi looks to build on its recent rout of Nicholls with a pair of matchups at Abilene Christian and back at home against Houston Baptist.Â
This Saturday's contest with the HBU Huskies will be broadcast live via ESPN3Â at Corpus Christi Athletic Club Court inside the American Bank Center, as the Islander men will take the stage shortly after the conclusion of the women's game.

- The Islanders ripped off a 76-55 win over Nicholls at home last Wednesday, after exploding for a 46-point second half
- Brittany Mbamalu set a personal best in that win over the Colonels, dropping 29 points over the course of the afternoon
- Guard Dae Dae Evans registered a career-high of her own with eight assists against Nicholls, as the Islanders recorded a season-high 23 helpers on 29 field goals
- Uri Jolivette and Dalesia Booth pulled down a career-high in the rebound category, tallying 10 and 13 boards respectively. Booth's 10 points would give the sophomore her second ever double-double
- Dalesia Booth's 26 rejections currently rank first in the SLC, while Mbamalu's 2.42 three-pointers per game is second in the conference and 44th in all of D-I women's basketball
- Mbamalu is one of just eight islanders to eclipse the 1,000 career-point mark, reaching the milestone just earlier this season. She is currently 38 away from becoming the seventh most offensively productive Islander in history
- The Islanders are giving up an average of just 56.3 points per game, placing them 22nd in the country concerning scoring defense
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
- Abilene's 9.2 three-pointers per game rank 13th in D-I women's basketball, with eight Wildcats hitting over 30% from beyond the arc this season
- The Islanders' tight defense will be faced with a challenge this Wednesday, going up against an ACU offense that is scoring an average of 74.3 points per game
- Dominique Golightly and Breanna Wright lead the Wildcats in scoring, with each registering 13.0 points per contest. The two have accounted for 468 of their side's 1,338 points this season (35%)
- The Islanders will get their chances to score from the charity stripe on Wednesday, with ACU committing nearly 20 personal fouls per game
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- Houston Baptist is averaging a conference-best 4.7 blocks per game, with three players holding 10-plus rejections on the year
- Amanda Johnson is far and away the Huskies top offensive threat, holding an average of 16.3 points per game and shooting 44.4% from the floor
- HBU has one of the worst defenses in the SLC, giving up an average of 70 points to opponents on the season
- The Huskies are currently on a two-game losing streak, with their lone conference win of the year coming at Sam Houston earlier in January
COMINGÂ UP NEXT
After this Wednesday's contest against ACU the Islanders will remain at home for the remainder of the month, hosting Houston Baptist and Southeastern Louisiana to close out January. The Blue and Green swept its two-game series against SLU last year, dropping the Lions by 16 points in both contests.Â
