THIBODEAUX, La. -Â Texas A&M-Corpus Christi fell short in their matchup with Nicholls this week, as a streaking Colonels squad came out of top 91-61 in Thibodeaux.
Joseph Kilgore's 20th three-pointer of the season opened scoring on Tuesday, before hosting Nicholls would get off to a 23-7 run in the starting nine minutes inside Stopher Gym. The Colonels' hot shooting from beyond the arc would give the home side the advantage, despite the Islanders causing 10 turnovers in the first 20 minutes of the Blue and Green's sixth SLC contest of the season. Dropping 12 points in the first half of the contest, Kilgore led all Islander scorers at the break, as the Colonels maintained a 42-27 lead into the second half.
Kilgore would go on to drop another 10 in the second half, finishing the night hitting seven of his 14 shots from the floor. The Colonels' hot shooting continued into the second half, to hold off the Blue and Green's attempts at a comeback. Staying true to form, starting sophomore guard
Kareem South would have another big second, pouring in eight points while averaging 12.5 points in the second half over the past two games.Â
The Islanders scored 61 points on the night, falling to the Colonels' 91, but buried 20 free throws for the sixth time this season.Â
