CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – For a second consecutive night, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored early and often as the Islanders rolled past Abilene Christian 10-4 to clinch the series on Friday night at Chapman Field.

Seniors
Lukas Hermanson and
Cullen Jozwiak each went 3-for-4 at the plate as the Islanders scored in double figures for the second night in-a-row. Hermanson's night included a pair of runs batted in while Jozwiak drove home one, tripled and added a pair of walks.

Nick Anderson also enjoyed a bounce back performance at the plate, breaking out of a recent slump with a 2-for-4 night and team-high three RBI. The outfielder laced a double and triple into the left center field gap and also scored a run.

The Islanders (21-32, 13-16) opened the scoring with a big bottom half of the second.
Brett Burner got the ball rolling with a single to right before Hermanson roped a single of his own to center. Anderson's triple scored the pair before RBI from
Brian Deaver and Jozwiak made it a 4-run inning.

Abilene Christian (13-38, 3-26) answered right back with three runs in the third as Islander starter
Nolan Holland ran into trouble. A pair of singles and two walks pushed the Wildcat's first run across and ended Holland's night after 2 1/3 innings. ACU cut the deficit down to one as Anthony Dominguez floated a jam-shot into center for two RBI off reliever
Korey Rasure.

That would be as close as the Wildcats got.

The Islanders, scored in five consecutive innings to pull away through the middle of the game. Hermanson picked up and RBI in the third before adding another in the fourth along with Burner.

In the fifth,
Jackson Owens legged out a two-out infield single that scored anther as
Dawson Yates scampered home on the play. Anderson's sixth-inning double plated the Blue and Green's ninth run of the game as the lead swelled to 9-4.

The Islanders would cap off the night's scoring when an ACU error allowed
Harrison DiNicola to score in the eighth.

With the bats rolling to the tune of 14 hits, the Islanders' bullpen held ACU in check, not allowing an earned run in 6 2/3 innings. Rasure (1-2) earned the win in relief, tossing 2 2/3 innings while scattering three hits and striking out three.

Chad Romere tossed one inning, allowing an unearned run on just one hit.
Dustin Lacaze threw two innings with the only blemish being a free pass before
David Worrell capped the win in the ninth with a 1-2-3 frame.

SENIOR SATURDAY

The Islanders conclude their 2017 season Saturday at 1 p.m. against the Wildcats. Corpus Christi will also honor eight seniors prior to first pitch in the finale.

Fans are encouraged to allow extra time to arrive at the game on Saturday as the Beach-to-Bay marathon will create traffic throughout the area.
