CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi begins its pursuit of a Southland Conference Tournament crown and a return to the NCAA Tournament Friday night at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. with the game carried live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

The Islanders find themselves in the semifinals for a third consecutive season and with the No. 2 seed for the second year in-a-row. Last season, the Islanders used a last second shot to advance to the Championship game, but ultimately fell to Stephen F. Austin.

ISLANDERS IN THE SOUTHLAND

The Blue and Green is 7-5 all-time at the Southland Conference Tournament. In their last appearance, the Islanders defeated Sam Houston State in the semifinals to advance to their first Championship game since 2007.

The Islanders will look to replicate the semifinal success Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Corpus Christi will face either Stephen F. Austin or Lamar, who play Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.

The Islanders defeated Lamar twice this season, including an overtime thriller in Beaumont. SFA had the upper hand against the Blue and Green in the regular season, claiming both matchups in January.
