CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – In the opening day of the Third Coast Classic hosted by Houston Baptist, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball dropped a 5-0 decision to Louisiana-Monroe.

ULM got off to a quick start as the Warhawks picked up wins in the four and five matches.
Mallory Moran paired with
Claire Karsten as the fourth team for the Islanders, falling 21-9, 21-12 to Grace Convey and Bailey Smith.

The Islanders fifth pairing of
Kristyn Nicholson and
Mackenzie Coates were also upended in straight sets. The pair of setters fell 21-9, 21-13.Â

At the top of the order,
Brittany Gilpin and
Madison Green fell in a tight match against Kori Simpson and Hadley Swartz. Gilpin and Green put forth the Blue and Green's best effort of the day, but were defeated 21-15, 21-19.

Madi Fitzsimmons and
Madison Woods paired with one another in the two slot for Corpus Christi. Again, the pair put forth a strong fight for the Blue and Green, but ultimately fell 21-15, 21-15.

ULM rounded out the sweep at the three spot as
Morgan Carlson and
Kelsee Felux fell 21-12, 21-14. Playing in an alternate match,
Haley Sobosle and
Morgan Williams dropped a 21-15, 22-20 decision.

The Islanders wrap up the Third Coast Classic with a pair of matches Saturday. A&M-Corpus Christi will open the morning against New Orleans at 9 a.m. before facing Houston Baptist at 1 p.m.
