PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – A pair of home runs powered an 11-run outburst for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as the Islanders picked up their fourth consecutive victory in 11-5 fashion over Prairie View.
The Islanders scored in each of the first four innings capped by a 3-run
Nick Anderson blast in the fourth to score seven times early in the game. The home run broke a 4-4 deadlock and from there, the Islanders pitching staff allowed just a single run the remainder of the day.
Caleb Hanks (2-0) picked up the win after working three innings in relief. The right-hander allowed a pair of runs on four hits. Following Hanks, five Islanders combined to hold the Panthers (4-17) to just two hits the rest of the afternoon.
Aaron Rhodes tossed two scoreless innings with four strikeouts before
Dustin Lacaze worked 1 2/3 allowing just one hit.
Cullen Jozwiak closed the game out on the hill as he worked a clean ninth in the six-run victory.
At the plate, Anderson's three RBI led the way while the center fielder also scored a pair.
Dalton Stark went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. In the two hole,
Itchy Burts produced a 3-forr-5 afternoon and came around to score each time he reached.
Nkosi Djehuti-Mes uncorked his second home run of the season while pinch-hitting in the ninth.
