Postseason Returns to the Island Wednesday

Islanders host Georgia State in first round of CIT

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi hosts the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament Wednesday night as the Islanders play host to Georgia State inside the Dugan Wellness Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
 
Tickets to Wednesday night's contest are $15 dollars and can be purchased through the Islanders Ticket Office at (361) 825-BALL or online at http://www.GoIslanders.com/2017CIT. All CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament first round games will be broadcast exclusively through Facebook Live. Wednesday's game can be found at www.facebook.com/IslandersMBB.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi finished the season at 20-11 after dropping a heartbreaker in overtime at the Southland Conference Championship. The Islanders fell 68-65 to New Orleans after reaching the finals for a second consecutive season.
 
The 20-win season marks the third straight year with 20 or more victories for the Blue and Green under head coach Willis Wilson.
 
BACK IN POSTSEASON
• Texas A&M-Corpus Christi returns to the postseason for a fourth consecutive season.
• The Islanders are making their fourth straight appearance in the CIT under head coach Willis Wilson.
• Corpus Christi is 2-3 all-time in the CIT. Last year, the Islanders fell on the road at Louisiana in the opening round.
 
SECOND TIME EVER
• Wednesday night will mark just the second time in program history the Islanders have hosted a postseason game.
• The only previous home game came in 2015 as the Blue and Green hosted Kent State in the second round.
 
ALL SOUTHLAND HONORS
• Veteran duo Rashawn Thomas and Ehab Amin were each named to the All-Southland First Team.
• The Islanders were the only team in the conference with two players on the First Team.
• For Thomas, it's his third appearance on the All-Southland teams and the second consecutive season as a member of the first team.
• This is Amin's first appearance on the All-Southland squads.
 
THE CIT
• In its ninth year, the CIT has 26 teams competing in the tournament this season.
• The CIT follows the old NIT format in which there is no set bracket and matchups are determined after each round.
