CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team puts its season and four-game winning streak on the line on Friday morning. The Islanders (13-17, 8-10) face New Orleans in the second round of the Southland Conference Tournament.
Corpus Christi used a 20-3 run in the third quarter to defeat Northwestern State 57-46 on Thursday in the first round.
Dalesia Booth led the Islanders with 14 points. The Islanders overcame a 23-percent shooting clip in the first half by connecting on 48-percent of its shots in the final 20 minutes.
The win was
Royce Chadwick's first on the Island and his first in the Southland Conference Tournament since winning it all in 2001 with Stephen F. Austin.
The Islanders hold a 5-1 series lead over the Privateers, after New Orleans defeated the Blue and Green 75-54 in the Southland Conference opener back in December.
The game will be carried on ESPN3. Tickets are still available for purchase at the Merrell Center. Fans are directed to go to the Islanders ticket office to purchase tickets.
