CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi battles Southeastern Louisiana Wednesday night with intentions on climbing the Southland Conference standings.
 
The two sides are separated by just a half-game in league play with both chasing one of the four byes in the conference tournament.
 
HOME SWEET HOMESTAND
>> Wednesday night marks the conclusion of a season-long three-game home swing for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
>> The Islanders are aiming to improve to 10-1 on the season at the American Bank Center.
>> A win Wednesday would give the Islanders a winning record in SLC play for the first time this season.
 
BACK IN THE HUNT
>> After a tough opening month to the Southland season and a 2-5 start in conference play, the Islanders are now firmly in the hunt for a bye at Katy.

>> The big man went for 23 and 12 at Lamar before exploding for 28 and 11 versus ACU. Last Wednesday, Thomas went for 34 and 12 against HBU, matching his output from last season's scrap with the Huskies.
>> The senior is 36th nationally, averaging 20.2 points per game this season.
 
SOUTH SINKS SHOTS
>> After three straight quite nights, redshirt freshman Kareem South exploded against HBU.
>> South set a career high with 22 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor including a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. He added 8-of-9 at the line.
>> The four triples also marked a career-best for South.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN
>> Southeastern Louisiana sits a half-game ahead of the Islanders in the Southland standings at 6-5.
>> Marlain Veals leads the Lions with a 13.3 ppg average and 103 assists on the season.
>> Davon Hayes adds another 13 ppg and Moses Greenwood chips in 12.5.
>> Greenwood leads SLU on the glass with 6.3 rebounds per game.
>> After a 5-2 start in Southland play, the Lions have dropped three of the past four conference contests.
