CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team tips off the final surge of the regular season on Saturday with a homecoming contest against Lamar at 2 p.m. on ESPN3.
HOMECOMING FESTIVITIES
The student parking lot for Saturday's festivities at the American Bank Center will open at 1:30 p.m. The Tailgate and Block Party will follow the completion of the women's basketball game at approximately 4 p.m. on Resaca Street, just outside the American Bank Center.
The Tailgate will feature plenty of fun including a variety of inflatables, a petting zoo and much more. Islander alumnus Jake Ward will headline the Tailgate, performing live from 5-6:30 p.m.
The Alumni and Friends Tent is also available to alumni, Islanders Athletic Fund Members and season ticket holders. For just $5 per person, members of the aforementioned groups can enter the Alumni and Friends Tent and enjoy a barbeque tailgate.
THE FINAL PUSH
>> The Islanders are tied for seventh in the Southland Conference for tournament eligible teams.
>> The Blue and Green dropped Wednesday's game at UIW 63-56.
Dalesia Booth recorded a career-high 23 points with eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals.
>> Four of the Islanders' final five games of the 2016-17 regular season will be played in the Coastal Bend.
DEFENSE DEALS
>> A&M-Corpus Christi continues to rank in the top-five in five statistical categories in the Southland Conference, including first in blocks at four per game.
>> The Islanders are third in rebounding margin at plus-4.7, which sits 64th nationally.
>> The Blue and Green is one of four teams in the league to hold opponents under 40-percent shooting this season. The Islanders are 9-2 when holding opponents to a 40-percent clip.
BOOST FROM BOOTH
>> Booth has been on a tear over the last five games, scoring 14.4 points per game.
>> The rookie has scored in double figures in eight times this season, including four of the last five games.
>> Booth became the first freshman since
Brittany Mbamalu in 2013-14 to tally multiple 20-point games.
SERIES HISTORY
>> After a 65-49 loss in Beaumont on Jan. 25, the Islanders trail in the series 12-9.
>> After winning the first seven contests, the Blue and Green have taken just two of the last 13 games.
>> A&M-Corpus Christi holds a 5-4 record when playing in the Coastal Bend.

>> The Cardinals have found their stride with six wins in their last seven games.
