CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – After climbing out of a 17-point hole on Saturday for a thrilling victory, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team hits the hardwood on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. to face Abilene Christian in the American Bank Center.
Fans will be treated to the high-flying acrobatics of the
Skyriders from New York City, who will perform at halftime of both games on Wednesday night. The game will also feature $1 drinks from the concession stands.
The Islanders (8-12, 4-5) close out a two-game homestand by going for their second win in a row, following a come-from-behind win against Nicholls.
Kassie Jones came off the bench to score 21 points, including the fifth best free throw shooting game in program history at 8-for-8.
Ashanti Plummer rejected a trio of shots, while grabbing a game-high seven rebounds.
CLIMBING THE STANDINGS
After dropping the first three games of Southland Conference play, the Islanders have won four of their last six outings. The recent winning surge has the Blue and Green tied for sixth in the league standings, just a game out of fourth.
Brittany Mbamalu has paced the Islanders with 13.3 points per game, while the team has shot 41-percent from the field.
SCORING AND CLOSING IT OUT
>> The 29-point fourth quarter against Nicholls marked the second most points in a quarter in program history. The Blue and Green has put up 20 points in 16 quarters this season and are 6-5 when touching the 20-point threshold in a period.
>> A&M-Corpus Christi has proven it can close out games with a perfect 8-0 mark when leading with two minutes to play and are 6-3 when leading after three quarters of play.

Kassie Jones came off the bench against Nicholls to score a season-high 21 points. The Lufkin native was 6-of-8 from the field and 1-of-2 from the perimeter.
>> She recorded her 100th career steal against the Colonels, becoming the 11th player in program history to reach that milestone.
>> Jones is an 81-percent career free throw shooter, which ranks second in the history books.
SERIES HISTORY
>> The series with the Wildcats is a relatively new rivalry for the Islanders with just five matchups between the two schools.
>> With the season sweep in 2015-16, ACU took over the series lead 3-2.
SCOUT SAYS
>> Still not eligible for postseason play until the 2017-18 campaign, Abilene Christian sits atop the Southland Conference standings along with Stephen F. Austin at 7-1 and 13-7 overall.
