Islanders Drop Southland Contest to SFA

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer team dropped Friday's Southland Conference match at the Dugan Soccer Stadium, 5-1, to Stephen F. Austin. Brooke Erdmann scored the lone goal for the Islanders (0-9-0, 0-2-0).

A&M-Corpus Christi fell behind in the seventh minute when Ladyjacks forward Amanda Doyle finished a cross at the top of the six-yard box. SFA (5-2-0, 2-0-0) tacked on two more goals before the halftime break with scores in the 12th and 35th minutes.

After Stephen F. Austin added to its lead in the 77th, A&M-Corpus Christi started connecting up top. Yvette Franco led the way for the Blue and Green with a trio of shots with one on net.

Meghan Cordero sent a corner kick into the box that created chaos for the Ladyjacks backline in the 68th minute. Erdmann wove her way between defenders to poke the loose ball into the back of the net for her third career tally on the Island.

SFA countered with an 80th minute goal by Breanna Moore. The Ladyjacks outshot the Blue and Green 14-to-6 and 10-to-4 on goal.

Islanders starting netminder Kendall Moody made four stops, before Tatum Hightower came in to record one save in the second half.
