SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field teams won four individual events on Saturday as the Islanders completed competition at the Roadrunners Invitational in San Antonio.

The men's team took second out of six scoring teams with 120 total points at the meet, while the women placed fourth overall with 104.5 points.
Steven Galli won the 3,000 meters for the Islanders, crossing the line in 8:48.43. Marek Spriesterbach took gold in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:58.84.
The men's squad had 12 additional top-five performances on the day, including five in field events.
Bjoern Adden (2nd; 48.90m), Logan Robinson (3rd; 44.89m) and Bryan Wersterfer (4th; 38.57m) all placed in the top five in the javelin. Logan Jorgensen was second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.55 meters, while Devin Nguyen was fourth at 4.25 meters.
Daniel Guerrero led a group of six Islanders to place fifth through 10th in the 3,000 meters behind Galli. Guerrero crossed the line in 8:57.53.
David Carrillo (3rd; 21.74), Angelo Garland (5th; 21.88) and Isaiah Patterson (6th; 21.89) all ran under 22 seconds in the 200 meter dash. Brandon Walls was the Islanders top performer in the 100, crossing the line in 10.93 seconds to place fourth.
Finally, Jaran Cadena took second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.39.
Both the men's 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays placed second on Saturday. The 4x100 team of Walls, Carrillo, Garland and Javier Reyes crossed the line in 42.55 seconds, while the 4x400 squad of Carrillo, Garland, Reyes and Will Maraggia recorded a time of 3:19.55.
The women's team had 12 top-five performances overall, including wins by Hannah McWilliams and Cynthia Quiroga. McWilliams won the pole vault with a mark of 3.65 meters, while Quiroga took gold in the 3,000 meter steeple chase, crossing the line in 11:54.68.
Vanessa Galindo joined Quiroga in the steeple, placing third with a time of 12:43.16. Liz Romo added a third place finish in the 3,000 meters, clocking in at 10:44.03.
Taylor Hawes, Tevis Thomas and Ashley Mills rounded out the individuals on the track to finish in the top five. Hawes was third in the 1,500 meters at 4:52.91, Thomas took fourth in the 100 meter dash at 12.02 seconds, and Mills recorded a time of 2:29.16 to place fourth in the 800.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of Thomas, Melina Ortiz, Faith Williams and Tashonna Williams placed second with a time of 47.88 seconds.
It was a quartet of fifth place finishes that highlighted the women's field events on Saturday. Isabella Baptiste was fifth in the javelin with a mark of 27.36 meters, Diamond Thomas was fifth in the discus at 42.21 meters, and Sashane Hanson and Brigitte Evans-Brown tied for fifth in the high jump at 1.53 meters.
The Islanders will be back in action next weekend at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight in Houston and the Mt. SAC Relays in California.
