Squaring Off with Schreiner

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team wraps up its home non-conference schedule on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. tipoff against Schreiner in the Dugan Wellness Center. The contest is also the final game of the Holiday Inn North Padre Island Challenge.

Doug Kesterson will have the call on the Islanders Digital Network, starting with the NavyArmy Community Credit Union Pregame Show.

The Islanders (3-3) have met the Mountaineers only once before, back in 2001 when the Blue and Green won 124-58, and set the school record for points, field-goal percentage and assists in that matchup.

Tuesday is the final game of the Holiday Inn North Padre Island Challenge. A&M-Corpus Christ can go undefeated with a victory, after beting Montana Tech (Nov. 23) and Panhandle State (Nov. 30).

The Blue and Green are coming off a loss in the inaugural women's basketball game of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union. UT-Rio Grande Valley capitalized on 11 missed free throws by the Islanders to win 68-65.

Schreiner (NCAA DIII) arrives to the Coastal Bend with a 1-5 record.

After Tuesday night, the Islanders begin a seven-game road swing, the longest in program history, and will not see the friendly confines of the Island until Jan. 7.
