Men Look for 4-0 Start Wednesday

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Following a pair of road wins, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi returns to Corpus Christi and Stripes Court at the American Bank Center Wednesday night in a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
 
The Islanders (3-0) are off to their best start since the 2006-07 season when the Blue and Green captured its only Southland Conference Championship.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi and Jarvis Christian are meeting for just the second time on the hardwood. The Islanders won the only previous meeting 87-55. Jarvis Christian is 2-0 on the season with a pair of wins over Arlington Baptist College. The NAIA squad faces Prairie View Tuesday night.
 
MASTER THIEF
• Junior guard Ehab Amin leads the nation in steals per game this season.
• In each of the first three regular season games, Amin notched four steals to lead the Islanders.
• As a team, the Islanders rank fourth in the nation in steals per game averaging 12.3.
 
CLUTCH CHARITY
• The Islanders knocked down 25 of their 28 free throw attempts Monday night.
• Down the stretch, Cole Martinez and Ehab Amin combined for the Islanders to go a perfect 10-for-10 at the line over the last 90 seconds of the game.
• A&M-Corpus Christi only misfired on one free throw in the final five minutes.
 
MARTINEZ MAGIC
• Redshirt senior Cole Martinez dropped a career-high 18 points in the win at Texas State.
• The guard was 4-of-9 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from downtown.
• At the line, Martinez was 8-for-8 marking the most free throws without a miss for an Islander since Shannon Shorter November 13, 2007.
 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
 
• Jarvis Christian is 2-0 entering their matchup with Prairie View on Tuesday night. Both games have come over Arlington Baptist College.
• Deon Fisher returns after averaging 12.1 points per game last season.
• The Bulldogs defeated ABC 100-55 in the season opener before a narrow 89-82 victory in the second meeting.
• The roster is littered with experience for Jarvis Christian as the Bulldogs have nine upperclassmen in 2016-17.
