HOUSTON – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's and women's track and field teams cranked out several personal and seasonal-best times Saturday against high caliber competition at the 31st annual Victor Lopez Classic, hosted by Rice University. After a stellar distance festival Friday, the Islanders stepped it up on day two of competition at Holloway Field/Ley Track.
"I was pleased with how the team came out and competed," Shawn Flanagan said. "They did well in their heats to get themselves in the hunt. All-and-all it was a very encouraging meet and it prepares us for Texas Relays and our upcoming meets. We are a little ahead of where we were at this point of the season last year."
The men's team finished in seventh place and put together a good outing in the 800m. Valentinas Rudys and Brandon Lacy had season-best times while Cordarius Edmondson, Bryce Johnston and Wesley McGhee all clocked personal-best times.
